Dr Vassilis Adrahtas
Dr Vassilis Adrahtas was born in Bankstown in 1968, but grew up in Athens, where he also received most of his education. He holds a PhD in Sociology (Panteion) and a PhD in Studies in Religion (Sydney). However, his first and greatest love has always been theology.
His work experience includes teaching, translation, editing, publishing, print media, radio production, and academic research; but he has spent most of his time as a lecturer. He has taught at St Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Theological College, the University of Sydney, the National University of Athens, the Hellenic Open University (Patras), Macquarie University, WSU, UNSW, and Charles Sturt University.
His specialisation is in Early Christianity, Patristics, Byzantine Philosophy, Islamic Studies, and Indigenous Australian Religions. He has published numerous academic articles and chapters, and has authored and/or edited more than ten books. His most recent publications Islam, Civility and Political Culture (Palgrave Macmillan, 2021; ed. with Milad Milani) and 20 Years with Nikos / 20 χρόνια με τον Νίκο (Sydney Branch of the International Society of Friends of Nikos Kazantzakis, 2021).
